About the Role
As a Data Engineer 2, you will work on cloud-based platforms and distributed data systems to empower analytics across Nordstrom. You will also participate in an on-call rotation, ensuring system reliability and uptime.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain pipelines using BigQuery, GCP DataProc, Airflow
- Integrate cloud solutions using AWS or GCP
- Manage workflows via Apache Airflow
- Use Kubernetes for container deployment and orchestration
- Implement real-time streaming with Kafka
- Write clean and scalable Python and SQL scripts
- Monitor and troubleshoot systems through on-call rotation
- Collaborate with analysts, scientists, and product managers
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of data engineering experience
- Experience with BigQuery, Snowflake, Hadoop, Netezza, Teradata
- Proficient in Apache Airflow, Python, SQL
- Experience with AWS or GCP
- Knowledge of Kubernetes and Kafka
Preferred Qualifications
- CI/CD pipeline experience
- Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance
- Experience with DevOps tools and practices
