About the Role
As a Backend Software Engineer at eBay, you’ll help design and build scalable services that enable millions of sellers to manage their subscriptions and storefronts. This team drives mission-critical APIs used by third-party apps across eBay’s global marketplace. You’ll be joining a fast-paced, impactful group contributing to core monetization services.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement multi-tier distributed systems and APIs
- Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code
- Collaborate with product and technical leads to solve complex business problems
- Contribute to performance and scalability improvements across backend systems
- Participate in code reviews and mentor other engineers
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2+ years of software development experience
- Strong Java programming skills and experience with object-oriented design
- Knowledge of distributed systems and service-oriented architecture (SOA)
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases
Preferred Qualifications
- Frontend development experience (JS, Node.js, React) is a big plus
- Experience with RESTful web services and JSON APIs
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and system design
- Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies
- Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
