About the Role
As a Data Engineer at Discover, you’ll develop and troubleshoot scalable data integration solutions using Kafka, Spark, SQL, Java, NoSQL, Teradata, AWS, and more. You will design both real-time and batch ETL pipelines, implement data lineage and quality checks, and deliver analytic solutions supporting predictive insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain real-time and batch data ingestion pipelines with Kafka and Spark
- Implement data lineage, classification, and quality validation mechanisms
- Perform prescriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics with Spark-based ETL
- Collaborate in agile teams, contributing actively to ceremonies and sprint goals
- Troubleshoot and enhance data integration solutions using Teradata, Oracle, SQL, and Unix tools
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in data engineering or similar role
- Hands-on with Kafka, Apache Spark, SQL, Java, NoSQL, and Unix/Linux
Technical Skills
- ETL development using Teradata and/or AWS cloud ETL frameworks
- Experience with Ab Initio, Git, MS SQL, and data lineage tools
- Familiarity with prescriptive/predictive analytics and stream processing
