
Crate & Barrel is seeking a motivated DevOps Engineer to join our growing technology team. As a DevOps Engineer, you will collaborate to manage infrastructure projects and processes, supporting production, monitoring, and operations for our retail websites. This is a fully remote, individual contributor role where you’ll drive automation, scalability, and performance improvements across our cloud-based infrastructure.

A Day in the Life as a DevOps Engineer
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP using Terraform with a focus on automation and scalability.
- Enhance website scalability to handle traffic surges while ensuring site reliability and cost efficiency.
- Add build gates (regression tests, linting, security scans) to deployment pipelines to improve release velocity and reduce production incidents.
- Proactively monitor real-time application performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Implement production fixes and contribute to root cause analysis to minimize disruptions.
- Enforce zero-trust security principles by managing access control policies for production databases and tools.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell).
- Experience with cloud providers (AWS and/or GCP).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity standards and best practices.
- Ability to manage multiple projects across diverse teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in production software development and deployment environments.
- Hands-on experience with iOS CI/CD pipelines using Fastlane and Xcodebuild.
- Experience managing iOS app signing certificates, provisioning profiles, and app entitlements.
- Familiarity with Swift Package Manager.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Expertise in automated CI/CD pipelines (TeamCity, Octopus Deploy) and Git workflows.
- Deep understanding of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Knowledge of .NET/C# and JavaScript programming concepts.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes; Istio knowledge is a plus.
- Proficiency in relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Hands-on experience with monitoring tools such as New Relic, Datadog, etc.
- Ability to create meaningful dashboards for system performance monitoring.
Compensation
Minimum Starting Rate: $80,000 annually
Maximum Rate: Up to $100,000 annually
