AppFolio is hiring a Data Engineer I to help build next-generation data infrastructure supporting analysts, engineers, and machine learning workflows. You’ll work with cutting-edge technologies like Kafka, Flink, Snowflake, and AWS — while contributing to scalable data pipelines, governance, and monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Build scalable real-time data pipelines using Kafka and Flink
- Improve architecture, data quality, and governance
- Collaborate with developers, analysts, and scientists on data needs
- Develop infrastructure-as-code and ensure data reliability
- Recommend and implement new data technologies
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years with Apache Kafka and stream processing (e.g., Flink)
- Experience with Python or Ruby and SQL query optimization
- Hands-on with AWS (IAM, VPC, S3, MSK, EKS)
- Strong understanding of data lakes and warehouse tools (Snowflake)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Debezium, Apache Iceberg, or Trino
- Hands-on with Kubernetes and Docker
- ML/data science collaboration skills a plus
