As a Database Reliability Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing EA’s production database environments. You will focus on automation, operational readiness, and performance tuning to ensure database reliability and scalability for EA’s games and services. This hybrid role is based in Austin, TX, and reports to the Senior Manager of DBA Services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement automation and tooling for improved availability, scalability, and consistency in database lifecycle management.
  • Support game launches through stress testing, operational readiness, and performance optimization.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and game teams during incident response situations.
  • Measure reliability metrics and apply data insights to improve database performance.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including architecture diagrams, configuration, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide emergency support when required.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of IT experience with coding in Python, Go, or Ruby.
  • 2+ years managing high-volume transactional production environments with RDS Aurora, MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, or MongoDB.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of critical database environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CI/CD, GitLab, etc.).
  • Familiarity with online backup technologies and Disaster Recovery planning.
  • Proficiency with AWS or other cloud platforms.
