About the POS Payments Team
We build and operate the in-store payments platform. Experience with payment gateways, PCI compliance, fraud detection,
and financial integrations (e.g., ACH, card networks) is a plus. We value engineers who thrive in distributed systems,
ship high-quality code, and collaborate across disciplines to deliver resilient payment solutions.
What You’ll Do
- Design, implement, test, and operate backend services and APIs that power in-store payments.
- Create, configure, and support build and deployment pipelines (CI/CD) and container-first workflows.
- Write production-ready code and tests that meet acceptance criteria, account for edge cases, security, and errors.
- Provide on-call support; debug and troubleshoot moderately complex issues within team services.
- Contribute to monitoring and root cause analysis; recommend tooling and process improvements.
- Collaborate across engineering, product, compliance, and design to deliver reliable features.
- Mentor junior engineers and help scope right-sized stories for incremental delivery.
- Identify dependencies and blockers, communicate risks, and drive resolution.
What You’ll Bring
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent training/experience.
- 2+ years of software development experience, including backend services and API development.
- Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.
- Proficiency with Java, Golang, or C/C++; experience with Spring Boot/Framework/Security.
- SQL and relational databases; ability to write performant queries.
- Linux environment proficiency, including command line and shell scripting.
- DevOps mindset with CI/CD and configuration-as-code; container-first strategies.
- Familiarity with Git, Jira, Confluence; Agile development practices.
- Nice to have: knowledge of payment gateways, PCI, fraud detection, ACH/card network integrations.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, including occasional overnight stays.
