Peraton’s Risk Decision Group (RDG) is seeking a **Database Engineer** to help build scalable data pipelines and systems that support critical national security missions. You’ll design and maintain ETL/ELT workflows using SQL, Python, and orchestration tools like Airflow or Dagster, all within cloud-native environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL and Python (DBT, Pandas, PySpark)
  • Architect traceable data workflows using Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster
  • Manage cloud-native databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Optimize data systems for performance, reliability, and scalability
  • Deploy backend APIs (e.g., FastAPI) in containerized environments
  • Implement data governance and monitor quality/security best practices
  • Maintain data lineage and technical documentation

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain T5/SSBI clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree + 5 years experience, or Master’s + 3 years
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data engineering tasks
  • Experience with deployable orchestration frameworks and modular workflow design
  • Strong database architecture skills across both relational and NoSQL systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Agile settings

Preferred Skills

  • Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • DevOps/CI-CD experience
  • Familiarity with GDPR, HIPAA, or compliance frameworks
  • Experience with Data warehousing tools like Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery
  • Background in mission-driven enterprise environments
