Job Description
H&R Block is seeking a Data Scientist Analyst to join the Data Management and Acquisition team within its Strategy & Operations practice. In this hybrid or remote role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, quality, and readiness of data for analytics, enabling the business to make informed decisions based on reliable data insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that analytics teams can consume validated data with minimal additional checks.
- Maintain a data knowledge base and document data access elements.
- Cross-reference source data elements (e.g., JSON) with reporting marts to verify accuracy.
- Pull ad hoc reports and interact with Business Stakeholders and Data Scientists.
- Create unit tests, sign off on deployments, and automate data testing processes.
- Identify and resolve data defects by coordinating with technology teams.
- Utilize Azure SQL DB and work with large datasets efficiently.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- Strong command of Azure SQL DB.
- Experience with manual and automated data testing techniques.
- Familiarity with ADO/DevOps tools for story creation and dashboard management.
- Effective communication skills—both verbal and written.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with data governance tools like Alation or Microsoft Purview.
- Exposure to Databricks, Python scripting, and Hive tables.
