About the Role
As a Hadoop Administrator, you’ll play a crucial role in managing and optimizing large-scale Hadoop clusters. This includes weekly server rebuilds, cluster health checks, and node reintegration while maintaining system integrity and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute weekly server rebuilds (21–30 nodes) with zero data loss and minimal impact
- Perform Hadoop pre/post validations (cluster health, HDFS usage, replication, skew, and logs)
- Coordinate with Data Center Ops and Unix Admins for OS/hardware tasks
- Reconfigure and reintegrate rebuilt nodes into clusters
- Provide weekday and rotational weekend support for BDH1 and BDH4 clusters
Required Skills
- Hands-on experience with HDFS, YARN, MapReduce, and HBase
- Skilled in log analysis, volume/block checks, and resolving performance skew
- Understanding of open-source Hadoop distributions and change control procedures
- Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
